Business Challenge To Tackle
Facing geographic challenges as well as an aggressive recruiting strategy from other community colleges in Iowa, Southwestern Community College needs to set itself apart. Grow awareness of Southwestern Community College’s campus, and present the school as a place for new students to call home, as well as showcase the school’s vast array of programs and commitment to excellence.
Brought Together By Basketball
There’s no doubt we’re a sports-mad crowd here at Bing Bang. Our fearless leaders are big college basketball fans, and in early 2017, a small, yet extremely competitive community college here in Iowa – Southwestern Community College (SWCC) – came to our attention when they climbed the NJCAA DivisionII rankings, culminating in their March win of the men’s NJCAA DivisionII Basketball Championship.
We just had to get into the action! We went out to a SWCC game and put together a promo video following the team’s big win over Indian Hills CC. It’s a big deal when Creston Iowa goes national, and we love supporting Iowans doing well and kicking butt. Our team worked to help bring the SWCC story to the Iowa media by producing video packages and performing public relations activity to help bring the story of Southwestern’s men’s basketball team to the Des Moines Iowa TV market.
After that success, Southwestern Community College came to Bing Bang hoping our team’s fresh approach would help them solve another marketing challenge. SWCC wanted to showcase their pride and joy – their campus in Creston, Iowa as a place prospective students would want to discover. Their marketing team wanted to portray their school as a place of home and belonging to students well before they set foot on campus. Their goal? Drive enrollment by presenting their campus as THE place to be.
With this direction, the Bing Bang team brainstormed and developed a video concept that would take the viewer through a journey of discovering campus housing, college classrooms and labs and athletics (of course!), along with the Spartan Café and other aspects of student life.
The Results Are In
In the past two weeks, the SWCC team has launched the now-completed video on Facebook and their website, garnering almost 6,000 views and almost 200 engagements on the Facebook video post.
